      When my brother died in a motor vehicle accident during my freshman year in high school, my single mom and I assumed the responsibility of raising his orphaned 1-year old son. The gladly assumed responsibility changed my life, perceptions, and career goals. It caused me to alter my typical after school activities, to develop a deep appreciation for my mom, and to acquire the desire to become a preschool teacher.
