A FAFSA MUST: Discussion with a Parent
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will help determine the amount of federal aid a college/university can offer you. Discussions with a parent are a MUST, as most students are considered "DEPENDENT" on the parent. Step 4 (Parent) shows what a parent will report.(Click on: FAFSA Step 4 to view a copy of this section).
The "heart" of the FAFSA is the part involving finances, both yours and your parents. Your parent will need to answer questions about things YOU may be reading about for the first time. Invite your parents to do this activity with you so that you can both become aware of the things you might need to report.
